Image Guidelines

The photo you upload is the foundation of your custom portrait — the better the photo, the better the final result. Follow these quick tips to ensure we capture your pet at their absolute best:

✅ Best Practices:

  • Take the photo in daylight or a well-lit room — avoid shadows.
  • Blurry or pixelated images can affect detail.
  • Your pet should be looking directly at the camera, not from above or below.
  • Ensure the ears, eyes, nose, and neck are all clearly shown.
  • We want to match your pet’s real coloring as closely as possible.

🚫 Avoid:

  • Low light or shadowy images
  • Side or top-down angles
  • Partially cropped faces
  • Filters or color edits
  • Obstructed features (toys, blankets, etc.)
  • Good

    • Pet is facing the camera at eye level
    • Bright, natural lighting
    • Head and neck fully visible
    • Perfect for a clean and detailed portrait
  • Bad

    • Face is angled or turned away
    • Photo taken from above or below
    • Harsh shadows or dim lighting
    • Hard to capture accurate facial features
  • Bad

    • Pet is lying down or curled up
    • Partially blocked face or cropped ears
    • Covered by arms, toys, or blankets
    • Makes accurate artwork difficult

Don't worry!

We know that getting the “perfect” pet photo isn’t always possible — and that’s totally okay.

Our artists are pros at working with what you send in. As long as your photo is clear and your pet’s features are mostly visible, we’ll do our best to bring their personality to life in the final artwork.

If we ever find that your photo won’t work (too blurry, too dark, or too obscured), we’ll reach out to you before we begin. We’re here to make sure your portrait turns out just right.
